Moments like last night are when I wish I had a Twitch channel so I could have shared my glee with random weebs. Yesterday there was a new Nintendo Direct and it was FILLED with exciting news!! Most importantly…

But I’ll get back to that in a minute. First, I wanted to talk about all the things I’m hyped about from the latest direct:

  • Luigi’s Mansions galore! There’s a new third game in the Luigi’s Mansion franchise coming out sometime in the future, plus the original GC game coming to 3DS this October.
  • New 3DS Games?!?! Just when you thought that Nintendo was done with the 3DS, they reveal a few new kid-friendly titles like Kirby and Bowser’s Inside Story.
  • Splatoon 2 Updates! I love how they always add new stages and features to this game. It gives me hope that when the new Animal Crossing game comes out, they will add new things just as often as they do in Pocket Camp. Splatoon 2 doesn’t disappoint and their constant game updates really make this game a great value.
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe! Who can pass on the latest version of a Super Mario sidescroller? Plus there are two new playable characters (Nabbit and Toadette) that make the gameplay easier for younger players (or spastic ppl like me).
  • Nintendo Switch Online! It’s finally here! Now we get the pleasure of… paying for online service. Meh. But I’m excited about the Virtual Console library and the prospect of playing those retro games online with my friends. That will be cool! I need to figure out my family plan! lol
  • Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee! They revealed new features, such as your buddy Pokemon being an HM Slave and being able to learn special moves for gym battles. I’m ready to play! But I’ll definitely buy this on cartridge lol!
  • Super Mario Party! This game is coming out soon and to add to the hype, Nintendo showed us that there are ways to play the game that won’t even ruin friendships! You can play in a new CO-OP mode and be on a TEAM with your friends. That should be better for friendships…. right?!?!
  • Yoshi’s Crafted World! I cannot resist Mario’s green dino buddy. I always like Yoshi games, and I love how this franchise has embraced the craft world. I really liked Yarn Yoshi from Yoshi’s Wooly World, and now in the latest game they are adding more crafts to the design, like cardboard and string and it’s just so cute. The design styles of these Yoshi games are beautiful and I can’t get enough! Yay crafts!
  • Civilization 6!!! OMG! I wasn’t expecting this one! I looooove Civ I have been playing it since Civ 2 on Windows 95. I loved playing Civ on the DS back in the day as well, carrying my empire in my bag so I can play whenever I want is so great! I will be SO excited to play Civ 6 on my Switch coming this November! EEEEEE!!!!
  • New LE Switch Consoles! Here come all the cutely designed money-grabbing limited edition Switch systems! Not too long ago Nintendo announced the special Pikachu/Eevee limited edition Switch with custom color scheme and images of the cute Pokemon on the Switch dock. In the direct they showed off a new Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch design. This must mean that more exclusive designs are on the way in the future. Personally, I don’t love either of the two designs, and the fact that the dock is what gets most of the artwork is not a huge appeal to me. But we’ll see… if they make an Animal Crossing edition that I think is cute, I might get that!
  • ISABELLE IN SMASH!!! What??! I wasn’t expecting this at all! I am super psyched to try out Isabelle and make her my new main! I loved playing as Villager in Smash 4, so I would imagine that Isabelle will have a similar moveset. Hopefully she is quick and powerful!
  • ANIMAL CROSSING 2019!!!!!!!! As I expected, once the hype of Smash Bros. Ultimate has waned and Nintendo needs a boost, Animal Crossing will be ready for us to play on Switch! While it’s devastating to have to wait until NEXT year to get this game, I am super thrilled! I’m sure they will slowly reveal more details as time goes by, so my anticipation is SUPER HIGH! Who knows, maybe some of my predictions from my AC Switch Wish List will come true!

As usual, I didn’t cover everything in the latest Nintendo Direct, so I highly recommend that everyone watch it if you haven’t already! So much exciting gaming coming up on the horizon! What are you the most excited about??

Holy Awesome Games!!

If you haven’t seen the latest Nintendo Direct, or rather, the Smash Bros. Direct from 4/8/14… well you are missing out.  The half hour long presentation has taken the Nintendo community by storm!  New game footage and details have been revealed about the upcoming Smash Bros. games for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

There is just TOO much to hype about in the upcoming Smash games!!  So many new Pokemon playable characters, the Animal Crossing Villager character, new stages, new Final Destination stage options, new game modes for the 3DS version… and the graphics for the Wii U version are just so fantastic, I can’t get over it!  If you haven’t checked out the Nintendo Direct, watch it here.  Even if you’ve never played Smash Bros. before, now is the time to get into this franchise.

Can I just say that I totally LOVE Sakurai??  His hair is awesome!  He clearly is a huge Pokemon fan, has a hilarious sense of humor, and definitely represents what I consider to be “my generation” of gamers.  Is it bad that I secretly wish Sakurai would host all future Nintendo Direct videos?  😛

The bad news is that we have to wait.  Super Smash Bros. 3DS won’t be released until this summer.  The Wii U version is slated to be released this WINTER (holiday season no doubt) so we have a while before that new challenger will approach.  Not to mention we don’t have any actual concrete release dates.  I hate that!  My main worry is that the Wii U version will eventually be pushed back to 2015.  Fingers crossed that the developers stay on schedule.  Super Smash Bros. is going to be huge for StreetPass communities, and I can’t wait!!  So what am I supposed to do until then?

Good news!  Lots of cool games are coming out in the coming weeks and months.  Tomorrow, April 11th is the release date for Disney Magical World, which I’m sure many of my readers are psyched about!  If you haven’t heard of it, it’s kind of like a cross between Disney Infinity and Animal Crossing, with a touch of Harvest Moon.  You’re in the Disney world, and you get to interact with the Disney characters in a similar way to how Animal Crossing works.  From what I understand, it follows the daily calendar.  But you also get to gather items and collect things, which you use to craft OTHER things, which is why I say it’s also kind of like Harvest Moon.  Plus there’s some action/battling and you also run a cafe.  Everything I like!  If you want to learn more, check out this trailer:

Lots of cool games are coming out in May as well.  Namely, the awesome new Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf are both slated to be released early May.  At the end of May comes Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, which also looks to be AMAZING.  Sweet HD graphics on Rainbow Road?  Yes please!!

So hopefully all of those new games will tide us over until the release of Smash on 3DS later this summer.  I know I barely have time to play the games I have… I bought Yoshi’s New Island recently and have barely had a chance to play it because I’m still backlogged!  I was rushing to beat Pokemon X before the PVGC, but now that the big competition is over I can put Pokemon down for a minute.  What I really want to do is finish Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward which I had rented from GameFly.  I’m like half way through it so that’s my goal.

And if you are wondering… I have NO idea how I am going to manage 3 ACNL towns as well as Disney Magical World.  I haven’t even played ACNL in over a week, I’m sad to say.  There are just not enough hours in the day!  I’m hoping I will make some time to play games this weekend, even though I will be in Boston for PAX East.

But what can I say?  I have a ton of awesome games to play so I really can’t complain can I?  😀

Big News from Nintendo Direct!

Did you catch today’s Nintendo Direct video?  There were a lot of big announcements made, so if you haven’t already, be sure to check it out!

Here’s what I’m excited about:

  • Subcommunities in Miiverse!  Seems like a perfect place for my StreetPass Long Island group to set up shop…
  • Miiverse is coming to Smartphones.  And in the future, a Miiverse App is coming!
  • Virtual Console games (including GBA) coming to the Wii U!
  • OMG there’s a cool camera feature in Pikmin 3!  I can’t wait to take high res alien forest creature photos and share them on Miiverse!  lol
  • BIG NEWS – The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is being re-rendered in HD and is coming to the Wii U this year!
  • BIG NEWS – The newest Legend of Zelda game (I think slated for 2014) is going to break all the Zelda rules and bring a brand new gameplay experience!

Who’s excited??  What was your favorite part of today’s Nintendo Direct?  😀

Starting 2013 Off Right!

Happy New Year Everybody!  I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday.  I got some amazing gifts, including a 2TB Hard Drive for my Wii U, a bunch of games… oh yeah and a nice new HD TV! So I was a happy girl.  Did you get anything cool for the holidays?

2013 has started off with a BANG!  Earlier today, there was a Nintendo Direct video which was broadcast to all regions, and it was all about the new POKEMON GAME!

Iwata himself announced that the newest Pokemon installment was going to be 3DS exclusive, and is called Pokemon X and Pokemon Y!

It appears that the new game is set in either France or just Europe in general.  I think the new starters are SO CUTE!  Especially Chespin.  I love his little green hat thing!!  It’s awesome that this game is going to be entirely in 3D – FINALLY!  Of course, this was just a brief video so speculation is going rampant.  How many Pokemon will be in this new generation?  Will Pokedex 3D Pro have a free update to include all the new names and faces?  What do the evolutions of the starters look like?  How will the PGL change?  Is Dream Radar going to be compatible with this game?  When will we find out more info???

I have to say, there has been some mixed feedback from what I’ve read on Facebook.  Some people don’t like the art style (I happen to love it!).  Some people are mad that the announcement wasn’t for a Ruby/Sapphire remake.  Seriously, what’s with all these people wanting remakes??  I think it’s better to release new stuff than rehash old games.  But maybe that’s just me.

Personally, my only complaint is that we REALLY needed a new Colosseum type of game, similar to Pokemon Battle Revolutions, but with Gen V (or I guess, Gen VI now) Pokemon included.  Or better yet, a new installment of the WiiWare game My Pokemon Ranch, which I found to be extremely useful for storing my excess Pokemon.  I really could use some more storage space!

Regardless, I am very excited for the new game, and I think it’s great that Nintendo has decided to release the game in ALL regions at the same time.  It’s only fair.  No more of this “Japan gets everything first” nonsense!  🙂

In other news, I am 98% sure to have a BIG announcement coming VERY soon.  It rhymes with “Shmanimal Shmossing SHnew Shleaf.”  It is extremely likely that I will be getting my hands on a Japanese 3DS, which will enable me to play a CERTAIN game!  Yes, it’s true that I won’t understand anything that’s going on.  Does that matter?  Nope!  Stay tuned!  😀

Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

Quickie post just to share the news…  on today’s Nintendo Direct video, Reggie Fils-Aime and the rest of the crew FINALLY acknowledged Animal Crossing!  They discussed the game IN ENGLISH for the first time ever!  It was so nice to hear about everything in a way we can understand, and not to mention the relief that it’s definitely coming to the USA.  Of course they still aren’t announcing a release date, but were saying “early 2013.”  They better mean January 1, dammit!!  lol

Here is the link to the Nintendo Direct video:

The Animal Crossing info comes in like 25 minutes into the video.  (Yeah of course they keep making us wait lol!)  The biggest news [for me] that is new to North America is the official title of the new game.  It’s not AC3DS, it’s not AC: Jump Out, its…

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

So what’s the general census here?  Do we like this title?  What acronym should we use going forward?  I kinda like saying “AC3DS” but maybe we should conform to the previous games and go with “AC:NL” instead.  Your thoughts?

Honestly, other than it being in english and the reveal of the title, there wasn’t really any new information about the game.  But it’s just so great that it’s in English!!  It’s gonna be available… soon… someday…  eventually!!  😀

So yeah check out the video and let me know what you think!  🙂

Pokémon Black & White 2: Launch Weekend Update!

This weekend is gonna be AWESOMEEEE!!!

Pokemon Black and White 2

In case you didn’t know, or you forgot, or you don’t keep up with Pokémon news…  the new games are coming out THIS WEEKEND!  For most of the country, Pokémon B&W2 will be released on Sunday, 10/7.  However, if you’re super cool like me and happen to live close enough to the Nintendo World Store, the games are going to be released on Saturday at 9AM!  There is going to be a Launch Event party at the store, including free gifts and photo ops with giant Pokemon mascots!  I managed to get someone to cover my Saturday morning shift so that I can go to the event, so I’m very excited to play this game (again) before everyone else!

Since these new games are sequels, you can transfer some of the information from the original B&W to your B&W2 games.  This new feature is called the Memory Link, and it can transfer your Pokedex Completion Certificates into the bedroom of your B&W2 game.  Note:  The Memory Link does not actually transfer the contents of your Storage Boxes to the new game.  So I’m spending a lot of time working to complete my Pokedex in White so I can transfer it over.  I’m up to like 518, so I’m almost there!  Wish me luck!

In Animal Crossing news, there is a Japanese Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow (Friday) morning, apparently it will be full of Animal Crossing info on the new game.  In Japanese.  So I’ll do my best to figure out what they are talking about and share more screenshots with you.  Also, an Animal Crossing 3DS bundle is going to be available for Japan, and it is going to include a limited edition Animal Crossing pattern 3DS XL, as well as the new 3DS game.  JEALOUSSS!!!

And finally, I’d like to mention that next weekend is NEW YORK COMIC CON!  I’ve got a 3-Day Pass, and it’s going to be my first Comic Con.  I’m a bit perturbed to read that there will be many porn stars present at the convention, but I’ll try my best to remain civil and just stay away instead of starting a fight with these bimbos.  Don’t worry, I’ll take plenty of photos (tho not of those sluts lol!) and report everything I see at NYCC and share it with all of you!  🙂

NSMB2 & Nintendo Direct

*beep beep b-beep!  beep beep b-beep!*

I’m very excited to announce that last weekend, I beat the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game!  I’m so proud!  I’ve never beaten a Mario game on my own like this before, and while it was challenging, it wasn’t TOO hard so I didn’t get frustrated (which is usually what happened with me and other Mario games in the past) and I was able to show Bowser who’s boss!  And I didn’t even have to recruit JDubz [that much] to help me beat the game.

While the story mode might be “complete” I still have to collect all the Star and Moon coins, and unlock all the cannon and special stages.  So I’m still playing all the time.  Does anyone else play this game?  How many coins do you have?  I think I’m hovering in the range of 68,000 coins collected.  I know one guy who has over 500K already… so yeah there’s still a lot of work to be done!  Coin Rush certainly helps in that respect.

I have to say, this game is one of my favorite Super Mario games and one of my favorite 3DS games in general.  The 3D effect looks so cool in the side-scrolling platformer style.  While Super Mario 3D Land is cool, since you can explore the entire ‘world’, I like the simplicity of having a general idea of where I’m supposed to be heading (to the right!) and how to get there.  I think the new Power Ups in NSMB2 are MUCH cooler, such as the golden flower and the golden brick block.  Plus I have to throw in the fact that the background goal of collecting as many coins as possible makes it easier to collect extra lives.  (Currently I have over 330 lives without doing a single “cheat”!)

In other news, this morning (or rather, this evening, since this is from Japan) there was a new Nintendo Direct video… in Japanese.  That’s ok, it still showed some cool stuff and I wanna share it with you!

25th Anniversary Kirby Merch!

I’m not going to cover everything from the 45+ min presentation, just the two things I thought were majorly cool.  The first being that Iwata was holding a giant Kirby beach ball, and proceeded to show other cool merchandise to celebrate Kirby’s 25th Anniversary.  Now the question I have to ask is… will all this sweet Kirby stuff be available in the USA, or only in Japan?  And if it is coming stateside, is this the kinda stuff you’d find at Toys R Us, or do I have to go to Nintendo World to get exclusive Kirby merch?  Unfortunately I have no idea who has the answer to these questions lol.

And finally…  NEW ANIMAL CROSSING 3DS FOOTAGE!  Also, before you get your hopes up, a release date was only announced for Japan so far.  The JP release date is 11/8/2012.  *begin praying for a US announcement of the same date* (yeahh… I wish!)  Obviously I didn’t understand what Iwata was saying, but here’s some screenshots of the Animal Crossing presentation and what I’ve decided is going on in the pictures lol!

Another look into the Mayor’s office. I see a bonsai tree and some medals?

How to Buy a Bridge! (I am scared of those prices tho! lol)

Does this look familiar? It seems that the old Lost and Found building from ACGC is making a comeback!  Booker works here… what happened to Copper tho?

New Flower Shop! Apparently as the mayor, you can change the store hours so you can shop at night? Not sure. Vella, can you help me translate the word in this photo? 😛

Photo Ops! This makes me hope and pray that screenshots will be a function in the new AC3DS game.

New House Designs. This just looks so much cooler than the houses in our current games!

Another look at the two new Alpaca characters that will run a boutique. So cute!!

A new way to share custom designs – QR Codes! Cool!

OK that’s all the info I’ve got about AC3DS for now.  Hopefully since the release date for Japan is so soon, this means more info will be available as the date gets closer.  And then when the game actually comes out, we’ll have plenty to be jealous about until the game becomes available to the US!  lol

Guest Blog: どうぶつの森 [Animal Crossing] Scoop!

This Guest Blog was originally posted on

While there’s still no firm release date for the new Animal Crossing, the July 2012 edition of ファミ通ディス+ウイ says it’s slated to arrive in autumn. Exactly when in autumn is still a mystery. It also featured several intriguing pictures. One that piques my interest is that of an adorable little pink alpaca in a shop.

Alpacas in AC3DS? Is she the only one?

Of course, there’s also new furniture in the shot, but I’m more interested in taking the alpaca home with me. A visit to the city in City Folk included a stop to get your shoes shined so that hopefully they would match your outfit. The magazine shows a shot of our beloved shoe shiner doing very well for himself working in a shoe store and selling all manner of shoes—even boots. Hooray for stomping through the rain!

I will take those little pink numbers please.

While it’s purely speculation on the part of the magazine, the next picture looks suspiciously like a mayor’s office. What I really want to know is what happened to Tortimer whose picture hangs on the wall in the background.

Your aid looks like she’s awaiting orders: “Fetch me some of Brewster’s coffee servant!…I mean…”

The last shot just shows a character waiting at a bus stop. A very different little bus stop from those we’ve seen in City Folk. But, apparently that means the city will be returning. Viva la shopping!

Waiting to go to the city? (And buy some swanky boots?)

While these don’t make up for AC not even being mentioned at E3, I’m happy to see that they’re still excited about the series in Japan. I only hope our wait over in the states isn’t much longer after Autumn. Holiday season 2012 maybe? *crosses fingers*

Editor’s Note:  All the screenshots posted above are also found in a YouTube video of a Japanese episode of Nintendo Direct that was featuring Animal Crossing: Jump Out!  If you’re curious to watch it, check it out here!

Excitement Abounds!

Nintendo certainly knows how to build up anticipation!  I’m excited about so many things right now, I don’t know what to do with myself!

First of all, I received a Swapnote via SpotPass yesterday from Reggie Fils-Aime, CEO of Nintendo of America.  His note said to check today for a special announcement.  So I logged in this morning to see what was going on.  Apparently there was a new Nintendo Direct video to watch!  Check it out online or via the 3DS eShop!  There wasn’t anything about my favorite games (where’s my damn Animal Crossing news???) but there were some more reveals for Kid Icarus and a couple of other games.  I’m still undecided about Kid Icarus.  Do I want to get it?  Or rent it?  It’s going to have StreetPass features, and the 3D visuals look kickass.  Maybe I should at least rent it.  What do you guys think?

In addition to that, there’s been a lot of buzz that the Pokémon Company is going to make a special announcement on the Japanese TV show “Pokémon Smash” about an upcoming game.  If this is true, then there could be BIG news on Sunday!  There’s been mixed opinions on whether or not this is for real… but I’m certainly hoping for the best!  If you want to see where I got this info, check out and let me know what you think about all this.

If that wasn’t enough for you, I have SUPER EXCITING news too!  I just bought tickets to attend “The Legend of Zelda – Symphony of the Goddesses” concert!

You lucky ducks will get a full report on this super cool symphonic display of Zelda fandom!  I’ll be sure to take as many photos and videos as I can from my swanky Orchestra seats!  JDubz and I will be attending in July, at the Mann Center in Philadelphia, PA.  (No tour dates were announced for the NY area, but if they decide to come to NY at some point, we’ll probably get tickets for that too lol!)  It’s gonna be a kickass Zelda-themed ROADTRIP!  Should we get into cosplay for this show?

Join me at the Glux Blog Facebook Page and let me know what you think about all these exciting prospects!
