Crisis in Wasabi!!

Over the weekend I attended Apex 2014, which is the world’s largest Super Smash Bros. Tournament.  JDubz and I assisted in running the StreetPass Plaza Arcade at Apex, which was run by StreetPass Long Island, StreetPass NYC and StreetPass Princeton.  We offered Pokemon battles on a big HD TV screen provided by JDubz, and SPNYC was running Wii U tournaments.  This was all in addition to the official tournaments running at Apex!  The weekend was a lot of fun and we met lots of cool new people.  However, there was one problem: My JP3DS was having issues with ACNL!  D:

I think it started on Thursday but I didn’t pay much attention.  I had turned on my JP3DS to see what was new, and it took longer than usual to load up the game.  It wasn’t freezing or crashing, but the little “load train” in the corner was driving and driving and the game took about a minute to load.  At the time I didn’t pay much attention, I just put the 3DS down and did something else until I noticed the title screen come up and I could play.

However, at Apex I turned on my Japanese ACNL and it had the same issue.  But this time, it was several minutes before the game would finally load.  When the game finally did load up, I was walking around as Neko and she was carrying a tweeter.  As she ran around, she would randomly stop to blow the tweeter, but I hadn’t pressed A.  It was just going on it’s own, every few steps she would stop on her own and blow the tweeter as if the button was stuck.  But the button wasn’t stuck!  I had no problems loading up and playing my StreetPass games on the JP3DS so it seems that it must be a software issue.

We thought maybe I should try to update the software, or see if there was a “Fix Software” button in the eShop.  That will be hard enough of a task, since it’s all in Japanese.  If it’s a hardware issue, then I’ll really be out of luck.  But so far, there is nothing to indicate that the hardware is malfunctioning.  I have a digital copy of ACNL on my JP3DS, so worst case scenario I might have to delete the file and re-download it.  You all know what that means though… that would be the end of Wasabi as we know it.  I’d have to restart my game.  (NOOOO!!!!)

Yesterday I decided that if I do have to re-download the game, I needed to rescue the rest of my non-orderable items from Wasabi, such as the Campus DLC furniture and 7-Eleven items that were given to me by a friend.  These are all rare Japanese items that you can’t order from the catalog.  So I hoped for the best and started up my JP ACNL.  For some reason, it loaded slowly but not as bad as it had been on Saturday at Apex.  It only took about a minute, I guess similarly to the first incident that I described.  I had Neko purge her house of all her treasures, including her throne, which was kind of sad.  Every time a loading screen appeared, I flinched.  I don’t know when it might crap out again!  Then I used my American ACNL to take the items out of my JP3DS to a hopefully safer place.

…Did I mention that I have a third town?  JDubz gave me his ACNL cartridge and I started up another town called SPLI.  I haven’t finished setting it up to my liking and thus have not given it an official “reveal” here on the Glux Blog yet.  (Sorry about that, someday soon!)  Anyway, all of the rare JP items are now safely stored on the ACNL ‘cartridge town’ SPLI.  I figure if the digital copies of games can somehow become corrupt, maybe the safest place for my rares is in SPLI.

Since the loading time on the JP3DS wasn’t too bad yesterday, maybe I won’t have to delete and re-install ACNL on it after all.  I won’t delete it until absolutely necessary.  I just wish there was a way to back up your save file on the SD card or something.  ACNL has always been like this, I had a similar scare back in 2009 when I had to send my Wii in for repair.

Anyway… so assuming Wasabi doesn’t cease to exist, there is a JP event coming up in early February that I’d like to invite everyone to attend!  It’s Setsubun, or the Bean Throwing Festival on 2/3!  I’ll have to do the event at night after work since it’s on a Monday.  I’m thinking of streaming the event live on SPLI’s Twitch TV channel, so if I do that I’ll be sure to give you guys the link.  Otherwise, if you’d like to attend, please join the StreetPass Long Island group on Facebook and RSVP to the event page for Setsubun so I know to expect you there!  Don’t forget to add my JP3DS Friend Code (check my Friend Codes link here on the blog) and let me know your FC too if you’d like to join in!  You’ll get a free Ogre Mask for stopping by, courtesy of Shizue (aka Isabelle) and the Wasabi Town Hall.

Jubilife Gets Livelier!

Well, now that it’s July, that means I’ve been the Mayor of Jubilife for almost a month now.  Every day we have something new going on in town, there’s really never a dull moment!  Here’s a photolog of the latest happenings in Jubilife:

Gulliver washed up on shore recently. Despite the efforts of myself and JDubz whacking him with squeaky hammers, he would not get up. (Note: Gulliver will not wake up if you have visitors in town. He did eventually get up once the gates were closed.)

So far, the Gulliver items I’ve collected are a Hula Doll from Hawaii, a Dala Horse from Sweden, and a Mummy’s Casket from Egypt.  Pretty cool stuff!  I wonder how many countries Gulliver plans to visit in this game?

I love going to the Island with my boyfriend JDubz. Kapp’n however seems a bit jealous lol!

Playing on WIFI is so much fun! Recently Mayor JDubz and I visited with Mayors Vella and Kokuto.

We tried some cliff diving while we were in Hanabi! It’s really hard to coordinate everyone to jump at the same time…

I didn’t post this photo last time, but it’s cute! This is a face-cutout standee from the Summer Solstice festival on 6/21. Vella is a happy sunflower, while I am a happy sun wearing Ladder Shades!

The Dream Suite is now open for business in Jubilife!

Some profound words from the most annoying camel I know…

Oh hey, Reggie visited my Happy Home Showcase again! But he still doesn’t give me any ice cream so… I’m not impressed lol!

I *might* have eaten a Magic Mushroom while visiting the Japanese Nintendo Dream Suite town! FYI the Official Japanese Nintendo Dream Suite code is: 0000-0100-0017

Gruff seems to think he’s my stand-in for Mayor. He was also seen patrolling outside Ruby’s house to make sure nobody plants pitfall seeds… (I swear I’m not making this up lol!)

Chops thinks he’s the Official Jubilife room inspector… I mean, I appreciate that these guys want to help me out with my Mayor-ly duties. I just hope that they realize these are volunteer positions and that they won’t be getting paid or stealing my coveted Mayor’s chair at the Town Hall!

YAY I’m starting to get a tan!

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Island doing tours to stock up on medals and get my tan on. In the process, I’ve discovered that not all Island Tours take place in the daytime.

From what I’ve seen so far, there are more night-time Island Tours popping up than I’d realized.  The Evening Firefly Tour, the Pro Diver Tour, and the Dangerous Fishing Tour all take place during night time, or during a thunderstorm.  So don’t try to get a tan by doing those tours!

So happy! I’ve basically completed the my Sweets House exterior! I have the house exterior, the roof, the door and the mailbox all with sweets style decor. Don’t know if there’s a sweets fence or something… Anybody seen that in their Nook’s Housing store?

On June 30th we completed the Face Cutout Standee Public Works project. Of course I replaced the existing image with a face cutout of Miyamoto, which I picked up in the Japanese Nintendo Dream Suite town!

Yesterday I also got the latest Best Buy DLC… a “Cat Tower.” Now I need to somehow obtain the latest NL DLC, which is a shaved ice lamp!  Don’t forget to pick up the monthly DLC from the Post Office as well!

So yeah… lots of happenings in Jubilife!  Here’s the latest news from Wasabi: “Due to inactivity, some villagers have been moving out.  So far Deli and Gabi have already left town for greener pastures.  Mayor Neko is taking it as well as anyone can… just hoping for new neighbors to take their places!  If you’re trying to get rid of a townie, please let Mayor Neko know!”

If you are looking to make new ACNL friends, I highly recommend you join ACUKE.  They have a lot of fun in-game meet ups planned, and you can chat w/members in the chatroom and forum.  Definitely a great resource!

Week of 5/26 – 6/1

Mayor Neko’s Makeovers!

Recently, Mayor Neko stumbled across some really cool QR code designs.  Most of them can be found on Tumblr, or shared on the super-fun Animal Crossing group called ACUKE.  One pattern particularly appealed to Mayor Neko – the Team Rocket Grunt Dress!  Mayor Neko downloaded the QR code, and also ordered a black cap, gray socks and black boots to complete the ensemble.  Looking pretty devious there, Mayor Neko!  For those who are interested, here is the QR code for the Team Rocket Grunt Dress.

Keep in mind, you have to become friends with Sable at the Able Sister’s Shop before you can unlock the ability to scan QR codes!  Here’s another tip:  If you are having trouble scanning a QR code from an image you are viewing on your mobile device, try turning up the brightness of the screen of your gadget!

However, not everybody was pleased with Mayor Neko’s fashion choice.  Someone must have called in Gracie Grace to try and convince the Mayor to change her look, because on 6/1 the Fashionista was back in Wasabi!  Gracie asked Mayor Neko to try a “Rock” outfit.  Sounds cool!  After a bit of research, it turns out that Mayor Neko already had a complete rock ensemble…  it was her Varia Suit!  No need to scramble around trying to order a costume from the catalog this time around.  Mayor Neko simply swapped outfits with the mannequin that was already wearing the Varia Suit, and then Mayor Neko rushed right back to Gracie.

This was definitely Mayor Neko’s easiest fashion evaluation!  After looking at the list of Rock style clothing, Mayor Neko has decreed that Rock Style is the best clothing style available.  From Bone Shirts to Zebra print… Rock is the coolest!  Gracie was very pleased with Mayor Neko’s cosplay, and rewarded her with a Gracie Shelf.  (Apparently since it is now June, Gracie no longer gives out the Princess series as a reward.  Boo hoo!)  The best news resulting from Gracie’s visit is a rumor now swirling around Wasabi.  Word on the street says that once Gracie gives four positive fashion evaluations, she will consider opening up a store in town.  Only time will tell!  Check back next week!

Once again, Mayor Neko has made a generous donation to the Wasabi Museum.  On 5/31, Crazy Redd had visited once again, and Mayor Neko had her sleuthing cap on!  After rejecting some very obvious fakes (Venus statue with long hair?  A giant winged statue – but with bat wings??  You’ll have to try harder than that, Redd!), Mayor Neko discovered that the Proper Painting for sale has no known forgeries!  So it HAD to be real!  (For those who don’t like to guess, this website has photos of all the artwork Redd might be selling, and shows the real and fake versions.  Become an art history expert in no time!)  The Proper Painting is now on display in the Art Exhibit!

As the North American launch date fast approaches, more and more Mayors are coming onto Mayor Neko’s radar.  A new Mayor on the scene, Mayor Lizzie, stopped by in Wasabi on 5/31 to pick up some welcoming gifts from Mayor Neko.  She showed Mayor Lizzie around town, and they had a lot of fun!  Keep in mind, all you prospective Mayors, that Mayor Neko has been stocking up on fruit baskets to give to new Mayors!  If you’d like a particular type of fruit basket, please let Shizue and Mayor Neko know by commenting on this blog, or by visiting the Glux Blog on Facebook!

The most random and useless Public Work project in Wasabi has been completed.  Mayor Neko put on a brave face at the inauguration ceremony and smiled nicely, but rumors are coming in that she is not very pleased with the latest project – the Sand Pit.  Mayor Neko had hoped the Sand Pit would actually be functional as a Zen Garden.  This apparently is not the case.  So far the only use that has been found for this Sand Pit is to plant flowers in it.  Who plants flowers in sand??  Mayor Neko was reported as saying that she is considering demolishing the Sand Pit soon.

A lot of DLC has been announced with the fast approaching North American release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf!  There have been some monthly DLC distribution items announced, as well as a Best Buy SpotPass promotion for DLC.  Mayor Neko already downloaded the latest DLC, which is a Rainbow Screen!  This DLC can be obtained by speaking with either Pelly or Phyllis at the Post Office.  For more information about the upcoming DLC, visit the Animal Crossing website!  (Scroll down and click “In-Game Gifts” for details!)

Editor’s Note:  Please excuse the Wasabi News, as we prepare to go on a brief hiatus.  With the North American version of the game coming out on 6/9, the Glux Blog will likely be taking over reporting on the English game more than the Japanese game.  Don’t worry, Wasabi isn’t going anywhere and the Wasabi News will continue to publish updates!  But it might not be as frequently as readers have come to expect.  Also please stay tuned for GluxBox to report LIVE FROM E3 during the next week!

Week of 4/21 – 4/27

Happy Birthday, Mayor Neko!

There was a big celebration in Wasabi on Sunday, 4/21!  It was Mayor Neko’s birthday, and the villagers were not about to let the day go by without a surprise party for the Mayor!  Wendy greeted Mayor Neko outside of her house and invited her to a party at Wendy’s house.  When Mayor Neko walked in, she was so happy to see that her favorite townies were all waiting to celebrate with her!  The party go-ers were Wendy, Teddy and of course, the King!  They started the party with a big birthday greeting and some dancing.

After a few minutes, they decided it was time to have some cake.  Wendy turned down the lights and the candles were lit.  Mayor Neko made a wish, took a deep breath and blew out the candles!  Party poppers were popped and confetti flew through the air!  It was very exciting.

After the candle ceremony, everyone at the party continued to dance the night away!  The party decorations were so cute, there was a party table and an adorable cake set up in the center of the room.  Most of Wendy’s normal furniture had been moved out of the way.  A big “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” sign was displayed on an easel too!  All of the party guests were wearing cute little party hats.  Mayor Neko wished she could have a party hat too!  That was when Wendy handed Mayor Neko a wrapped present.  Inside was something really cool – a pair of Birthday Cake sunglasses!

Mayor Neko wishes to thank her friends for throwing her a very special Birthday Party!  Happy Birthday Mayor Neko!

After a quick fundraising period, the newest Public Works Project has been unveiled!  The Wasabi Traffic Light was installed on 4/23 near the West Bridge, which is a very busy intersection of town.  Now it should be easier to navigate around the area!  Next up is the Classic Windmill project, which is a much pricier amenity for the town.  Wasabi News analysts predict that it might take more than a week for the Classic Windmill to raise the required funding.

In the evening on 4/25, Mayor Neko went outside, only to find it was raining.  There wasn’t a lot going on in town, so she thought perhaps she’d do a bit of fishing.  Mayor Neko had heard fables of an elusive “living fossil” fish called the Coelacanth, which supposedly can only be caught in the ocean while it’s raining.  Wanting to seize the moment, she headed down to the beach.  After catching many unwanted Sea Bass, Mayor Neko noticed a big shadow in the water, and it was a little longer than the ones she’d been seeing.  With a deep breath, she cast her line and hoped for the best.  Much to her delight, a giant Coelacanth was at the end of the line!  Mayor Neko generously donated the giant Coelacanth to the Wasabi Museum, so it is now available for public viewing.

All this rainy weather can’t stop everyone’s favorite fashionista!  Gracie Grace patiently waited at the Town Plaza in the rain on 4/27 to present Mayor Neko with the latest fashion challenge.

The requested clothing style was “Bunan” which translates to safe, or subtle.  Nothing too crazy for Gracie today!  Something more on the simpler side seemed to be in order.  Mayor Neko reached out to her awesome neighbor, Mayor Yumi of Kasen.  Together they raided their closets to see if any subtle clothing could be found.  Mayor Yumi brought over a pair of glasses, shoes and socks to try.  Mayor Neko realized that the striped shirt she was wearing was also on the subtle list!

Both Mayors were relieved to see that Gracie approved of the outfit, did her little happy dance and handed over a gift to Mayor Neko.  This time she had earned a Princess Sofa!  It’s quite plush and comfy.  Now Mayor Neko only needs one more positive fashion evaluation to earn the Department Store upgrade for the Nook Shop!

On that same rainy evening on 4/27, Mayor Neko was walking past Wendy.  She stopped by to say hello as she always does.  Wendy was very excited about something, and was asking Mayor Neko to give her over ฿4,000 in exchange for something.  The Mayor was in a good mood and agreed to pay, without even knowing what was in store.  Wendy handed over a furniture item and Mayor Neko quickly rushed home to see what it was.  Much to her surprise, Wendy had sold a painting to the Mayor!  Who knew that the citizens of Wasabi were such art collectors?  First it was King, then Anthony (albeit the one he sold the Mayor was fake) and now Wendy?!  Mayor Neko submitted the painting for review at the Wasabi Museum.  Blathers was all a-flutter when he saw the painting – it was real!

In a stroke of terrible luck, the town of Wasabi has lost yet another resident.  Tiffany the rabbit has decided that it is time for her to move on to another town.  Mayor Neko has issued a statement:  “We are saddened to hear that our dear friend Tiffany is packing up today.  We wish her luck in all her future endeavors, and hope to see her around at the Strip Mall some time.”  Mayor Yumi was also present to say good bye.

Mayor Neko received some new DLC on 4/27 via post.  It was a Gold Clock, from the Gold Series.  For those who don’t know, you can create the Gold Series yourself by collecting Gold Ore and speaking to the Alpacas at the Recycling Shop.  While Mayor Neko of course is thankful for the generous gift from Nintendo, she admitted to the Wasabi News that she thought the DLC was “…pretty random.  But it’s worth quite a lot of money!”

Wasabi Inaugurates Central Bridge

After over a week of fundraising, Wasabi is proud to announce that their latest Public Works project, the Central Bridge, was finally completed on 4/16!  Located in the center of town, the newest bridge adds much easier access to one of the most popular places in town: R. Parkers, the Recycling Shop!  No longer will townies have to walk across town just to cross the river.  Since Mayor Neko knew this bridge would become quite popular, she elected to have it stand out with a red brick style, instead of the common stone bridges that exist on the east and west sides of Wasabi.  All the townies are very excited for this town improvement!

Not wanting to waste any time, Mayor Neko quickly met with Shizue to discuss the next Public Works project for Wasabi.  Since the Central Bridge was quite an expensive project, the town officials decided to choose a project that was a little less intensive for the upcoming week.  They decided that it would be a good idea to place a traffic light in one of the busier intersections of town.  The accompanying photo is a preview of what the traffic light will look like upon completion.  Please see the Gyroid to make a donation!

While Mayor Neko was looking through the requested Public Works projects of the villagers, she noticed that a different Windmill has also been suggested.  She is a big fan of this alternate Windmill’s vintage style.  It is a pricey project so it has not been selected to be built just yet, but Mayor Neko wonders if she should replace the current, modern style Windmill that is already in Wasabi, or if this traditional Windmill should be added somewhere else in town.  The Wasabi News wants to hear from YOU – our loyal readers!  What do you think should be done with this alternate Windmill?

Should this Windmill replace our existing Windmill in Wasabi? Or should we add this Windmill somewhere else in town?

For those who follow the news from Kasen, you probably know that Mayor Yumi recently was on a trip to the country of Japan, where she made all sorts of discoveries and obviously had an amazing time.  There is a special DLC promotion at the 7-Eleven stores in Japan that allow you to obtain some exclusive 7-Eleven branded furniture for your AC:NL home.  Mayor Neko is extremely thankful to Mayor Yumi for thinking of her and picking up some spare furniture to give as a present.  Thank you, Mayor Yumi!  In the photo you can see that Mayor Neko now has a refrigerated food display case, and a funny/gross-looking Meat Bed!  The Meat Bed is funny because it looks like a tray of meat and rice that you’d buy at 7-Eleven and heat up in the microwave.  To make things extra humorous, Mayor Neko set up her Meat Bed in a doorway, so anyone who wants to visit the Kuroi-Robo room will have to roll over on the Meat Bed to gain access.  It’s hilarious to watch!

Unfortunately for the Mayor, this week was a bit rough for her.  On 4/15, Mayor Neko was really struggling to keep her chin up.  Read the following mini-photolog to see why!

For the entire day, it seemed as though Mayor Neko had two left feet. Any time she tried to run, she would fall flat on her face! How embarrassing!

Wanting to enjoy a bit of retail-therapy to make her feel better, Mayor Neko was instead disappointed to see that the day’s Spotlight Item was a royal throne. While she currently has one of these thrones (thanks to King), she would have liked to pick up a second. Unfortunately this throne’s retail price is ฿800,000. The Mayor’s funds are currently all tied up in Public Works projects and paying off her house loan.

Next, Mayor Neko thought she’d buy herself something at the Able Sister’s shop instead. Apparently it was a royalty themed day, since Labelle was selling a Royal Crown in her accessories shop. Mayor Neko had to try it on, but when she saw the price tag of ฿1,000,000… she regretfully had to return it to the display shelf. If only money grew on trees… If only Mayor Neko had enough money to GROW a money tree!!

To further rub salt in the Mayor’s wounds, on 4/20, Wasabi’s townie list was made a little bit shorter.  The friendly and cheerful squirrel, Agent S, decided to pack her bags and move on to another town.  Ever thoughtful, Agent S was kind enough to send Mayor Neko a framed photo of herself in her departure letter.  This seems to be a new feature of AC:NL.  The Wasabi News is not sure if all townies will send a photo of themselves when they move out, as Agent S is the first townie to leave since Mayor Neko took office.  Hopefully if you are good enough friends with a townie when they move away, they will send a photo to help you remember them.  While we are very sad to see Agent S leave, everyone in Wasabi is excited for the potential of a new resident moving in!

Week of 4/7 – 4/13

花見 (Hanami) in わさび (Wasabi)!

This week in Wasabi, spring was officially in full swing!  The festival of Hanami in Animal Crossing: New Leaf has begun, and that means that cherry blossoms can be seen floating through the air for several days this week.  Mayor Neko cheekily wore a leaf mask to celebrate the flower viewing festival.

Mayor Neko is sad to report that there are no new Public Works updates as of the time of print.  The current project, Central Bridge, is somewhat expensive and has not yet been fully funded.  All donations are welcome!  We still need to raise about ฿50,000 to complete the project.  Estimated time of completion is now next week.

Got your number 2 pencils ready?  Good, because the latest DLC from the Campus series is what the Wasabi News has dubbed the “Pencil Screen.”  Made of an assortment of sharpened pencils in various colors, this screen is pretty cool looking!  You can use it to block the doorway to the secret chambers in your home!

Gah!  Our beloved Mayor Neko was nowhere to be found during this week’s Fishing Tournament on 4/13.  The residents of Wasabi tried to wait for her but as time ticked on, the villagers decided to participate without her.  That being said, it is unclear what sort of Tournament was held this week.  Mayor Neko was apparently traveling on this day and was not able to check into Wasabi until long after the Tourney had ended.  Please congratulate Agent S, who was the winner of the Fishing Tournament of April!  Don’t worry, Mayor Neko, there will be a new Tournament next month.  Just don’t FORGET this time!

Week of 3/31 – 4/6

Wasabi Pranks Mayor Neko!

This week was quite the exciting one for the town of Wasabi!  After an exhilarating Bunny Day (see the special issue will full coverage of this fun holiday!), more surprises were in store for Mayor Neko!  The following day, 4/1, was April Fool’s Day!  It seemed as though all the townies were in on the joke, and poor Mayor Neko was the one being pranked!  There was a mysterious character in town that day, a white cat with no face!  This cat reminded Mayor Neko of a character she’d once heard of, called Blanca.  However, this mystery person was not Blanca, as you cannot draw on their face, and also this character seemed like a boy.  Let’s call him Blanco instead.  He was working with the townies to prank the Mayor.  Every time Mayor Neko stepped into a townie’s house, there seemed to be clones in each home!  Blanco was impersonating each villager, and it was up to Mayor Neko to determine who was the real townie and who was the fake.  (Not being able to understand Japanese made this quite a difficult feat!)

Here’s how it works:  You walk into a townie’s home.  If you see two of the townie (see above photo, there were two Wendy’s inside!) then you know an elaborate prank is in the works.  When you talk to the townie-clones, they will begin to argue with each other, seemingly trying to convince you that they each are the legitimate townie.  If you are observant enough, the townies will drop hints to show their true identity.  They might mention their birthday, or use their special catch-phrase to help you figure out who is the real townie.  But Blanco won’t make it easy, he’ll do his best to make you second-guess your choice!  But if you choose right, you will get an AMAZING prize – a framed photo of the townie!

Mayor Neko did pretty well for herself, securing the photos of Wendy, Anthony and Agent S.  Unfortunately she did not guess correctly when she was at her best friend’s house, King.  That was awkward.

Though she thought it might be a prank at first, Mayor Neko was happy to learn that her latest donation to the Wasabi Museum was in fact a real work of art on 4/1!  While the Wasabi News team is not sure of the actual name of it, the latest exhibit in the Art section of the Museum includes a famous sculpture of what could very well be an alien.  Or, if you’re a Pokemon fan, it kind of looks like a Claydol!  Either way, it’s a real artwork and it’s on display at the Wasabi Museum!

Only a few short days later, on 4/4, Mayor Neko had another stroke of luck, and picked out a lovely still-life painting that was also legitimate!  Blathers was beside himself in disbelief!  Mayor Neko has had quite a good eye at picking out historical artworks lately!  Keep up the good work, Mayor!

Right on schedule, the latest Public Works project was completed on 4/2!  This new facility is a Japanese Lamp Post, the first of likely many light posts which will brighten up the town at night.  This Japanese Lamp Post is located just off to the left of the Town Hall, and is located between to the two small ponds in that area of town.  It should make pond-fishing a little easier at night!  Safety first!  After the celebration of the newest Public Works project, Mayor Neko was surprised to see some strange new requests in her folder at Town Hall.  Take a look at what some of the Wasabi Townies have requested to add to their town:

An oil rig??? Seems a bit industrial for the pretty town, don’t you think?

A giant shoe? Is an old woman going to move into it with her many children, so she won’t know what to do?

Smartly, the Mayor opted to add the third and final bridge in Wasabi. This bridge is located conveniently at the center of town, and will be called Central Bridge.

After last week’s fashion-fiasco, you could probably imagine how Mayor Neko felt when she saw that Gracie Grace had returned to Wasabi on 4/2.  Especially since the Mayor was still running around in her silly bunny costume from over the weekend.  Rather curtly, she spoke to Gracie to find out what fashion disaster ensemble he wanted to see this time.  After a bit of sleuthing (and asking Mayor Aya to help translate) it was determined that Gracie wanted to see a Fancy Outfit.  Quickly, Mayor Neko rushed to see what Mayor Aya might be able to lend her, so that she could pass this fashion evaluation.

Together the Mayors looked at Mayor Aya’s Fashion Closet at the Shakure Museum.  She had rows and rows of clothes lined up.  Apparently there are lots of different clothes for each “style” that Gracie might ask for, and Mayor Aya had taken the time to organize the themed clothes that she has – just for this sort of occasion!  How thoughtful!  Mayor Neko asked if she could borrow the fancy outfit.  Mayor Aya agreed and told her to meet back in Wasabi for the outfit.  It was very exciting!

When Mayor Neko realized what outfit was deemed in the “fancy” category, she was a bit surprised.  Out of all the clothes in AC:NL, including expensive outfits from the GracieGrace store, this is what a fancy outfit consists of??

Mayor Neko, as “The Un-enthused Fancy Santa”.

Was this another one of Gracie’s attempts at making the Mayor look ridiculous?  At this point, the Mayor was out of options and trusted Mayor Aya’s research.  She took a deep breath and walked up to Gracie, bracing herself for another poor review.  Mayor Aya stood by her side, like a good friend, offering emotional support!

Luckily, this time around, Mayor Neko passed the test!  Gracie spun around, did a bit of a happy dance, and yelled something in big letters!  That has to be a good thing, right?  When Mayor Neko was not handed a prize, both Mayors freaked out and panicked a bit.  Then Mayor Neko realized her pockets were full, so she dropped a few things on the ground and spoke to Gracie once again.  This time, Mayor Neko was rewarded with a very rare and EXPENSIVE furniture item – a Princess Table!  Hooray!  That’s one positive fashion evaluation, bringing the town of Wasabi slightly closer to unlocking the renowned Department Store upgrade for the Nook Son’s Store.  A big THANK YOU goes out to Mayor Aya; without her assistance, this would have been another fashion disaster!

This photo depicts many things: On the left, we have the new Princess Table, holding some of the framed photos that Mayor Neko received on April Fool’s Day. Also pictured, the rest of the Egg Series and more framed photos of townies.

Another April Birthday to celebrate!  This past week, on 4/5, Mayor Neko was happy to attend yet another Townie Birthday Party!  This time it was everyone’s favorite deer, Petey’s birthday!  Mayor Neko scrambled to find some wrapping paper, and rushed over to Petey’s house on the east side of Wasabi.  Once again, she walked in to see King as the #1 Party-Goer, celebrating with young Petey.  It seems that King is a real party animal!  (womp-womp)  Many happy returns, Petey!

More DLC has been released!  This week we had two new items, one from the Post Office, which was a Sakura Clock.  The second was delivered via a letter from Nintendo, and was the latest Campus DLC series installment.  The newest furniture item was a Protractor Table.  Mayor Neko did her best to finally set up her DLC room, which is a bit cramped but fit just about everything inside.  In the photo you can see this week’s newest items, although the clock is a bit cut off.
