It’s Day 5 of A Geeky Gal‘s 30 Day Geek Out Challenge! I’m a little late to the party but that’s okay. I encourage all of my blogger friends to participate as well!
What is the Geekiest Thing You’ve Ever Done?
Hmm… pretty much my day-to-day is geekiness and embarrassing my family members that are ‘too cool’ or think games are ‘childish’… not that I care!! lol
Out of all the geeky things that I do, I guess I’d have to say that creating a gamer game show was one of the geekiest. I worked with my meetup group team members to flesh out a working concept, and then organized the rest of the pieces to complete the puzzle (game board, questions, polling, tabulating…!!) to create the Nintendo Feud Game Show. (Alternatively known as the Pokemon Feud Game Show, if we’re only focused on that game!) It’s like Family Feud, except the questions are all Nintendo related! Plus a cosplay contest, fun ways to buzz in, fan participation and PRIZES!!
It started at Eternal Con in 2016, and we didn’t know what the hell we were doing. My awesome friend SMB crafted a game board out of PVC piping and we had a small panel room packed with 30ish people wanting to watch the show!
The Nintendo Feud Game Show has appeared as several conventions since then, including PAX East, PAX West, PAX South, and New York Comic Con. We aren’t always accepted (gasp!) but we do enjoy putting on the show and traveling around to bring excitement to gamers at various cons! If you don’t see us at your favorite con, leave me a comment and we’ll try to apply next year. I love traveling!
