Jubilife Brings on the Heat!

Phew!  It’s getting hot out there.  All the townies in Jubilife are complaining about the weather.  I really wish one of them would request a Weather Box as a Public Works project!  I never got one in Wasabi (not that I’d have understood what it said anyway) and it sounds really cool… please townies?  Ask me!  I’ll build it!!  *waits impatiently*

I’m starting to get a righteous tan.  The only problem is that I sometimes forget to do Island Tours every day, so maintaining the intensity of my tan is proving difficult.  But it’s fun!  Another reason making it hard to keep up with my tanning is that I play at night a lot.  Trade off – I caught a SCORPION!

Here’s my advice for catching these ‘lethal’ bugs.

  1. Be brave.
  2. Keep the gates closed – Tarantulas and Scorpions won’t appear if your gate is open.
  3. Walk around with your net equipped.
  4. Walk slowly all around town and keep an eye out for details!  Look in every nook and cranny.
  5. When you see the scary bug, it will see you, since the net is a threat.  Both bugs do a little “hiss” before they attack!  If you swipe your net down while they are hissing at you, you will have enough time to capture it before it strikes!

About a week later, I caught the Tarantula as well!  Once I caught them, I guess they became less scary to me.  I am able to catch them more easily.  I have an extra Tarantula in my house now, which I’m keeping as a pet.  I’m gonna name him “Harry the Hairy Spider.”

In other news, Chops the “Jubilife Room Inspector” (his idea, not mine!) invited himself over my house to give ME a full inspection.  I think he secretly works for Lyle in the HHA.  I mean, his house is DIRECTLY behind my house, Chops could easily slip in at 6 AM and evaluate my house… now I feel creeped out.  Anyway, he was actually quite impressed with my house and how I had everything set up.  I expected him to like my main room, which is Robo themed, since I have the full set and some extra items to boost my feng shui.  I was surprised to see his reaction to my tiny Cabana room in my basement though!

Chops was blown away by my collection of Cabana Series furniture items.  He wouldn’t shut up about it.  He also wouldn’t shut up about how he wanted to move in and be my roommate.  All I can think about is when I should get rid of him so I can have my backyard back to the size I want it to be.  I can’t complain too much though, since Chops recently requested that we build a SPHINX in Jubilife!  Hooray for exotic Public Works!  I actually just completed the fundraising for it today, so tomorrow we’ll have a Sphinx infront of the Town Hall!  Sweet.  It’s gonna look like this…

I’ve received a couple of other cool Public Works requests from townies, such as a Police Station (that’s next on my list!) and a Stone Tablet.  As excited as I am for all these new Public Works to be added to Jubilife, I’m still reeling from the awesomeness that is the new Jubilife Cafe!

I go in every day to talk to Brewster and get my cup o’ joe.  Most times when I go in, I see a familiar face.  Something I’ve learned from playing this game now in English, is that the other patrons of the Cafe usually give you a tip as to how they like their coffee.  I’m starting to take notes because I have a feeling I might take up a part time job as a barista pretty soon…  Here’s my findings so far:

  • Aurora likes her coffee sweet with two sugars.
  • Digby doesn’t put anything in his coffee.
  • Isabelle likes her coffee with lots of milk.
  • Kapp’n doesn’t like ANY sugar in his coffee.

That’s all I’ve got so far.  I’ve only had the Cafe for a couple days!  lol

Time for some WASABI NEWS!  Last Sunday 7/7 was a special Japanese-only holiday, called Starcrossed Day (Tanabata in Japanese).  I hopped onto the Nearby Town Express train to Wasabi to visit and see what all the fuss was about.

Shizue  I mean ISABELLE was waiting at the Town Plaza, wearing an adorable starry shirt with a matching blue bow.  She kept going on about how the holiday was about some starcrossed lovers who only get to see each other on this date.  Then she gave me an item called Bamboo Grass, which is very cute.  If you interact with it, you are able to read little wishes written by… some people I don’t know.  Whatever, it’s cute.  Come to my house to see it!  There was also another awesome face-cutout standee, this one decorated with the two starcrossed lovers that this holiday commemorates.  I took a photo with Mayor Neko.  And I made Mayor Neko pose as the male.  😛

I think that’s about it for updates on Jubilife and Wasabi right now.  Although I did speak with Katrina today and she said I needed “flashy bottoms.”  That kinda sounds wrong.  But if you have any suggestions for flashy bottoms so I can have good luck, please let me know!  (Anybody got some hot pants I can borrow?  LOL!)

CELEBRATION!

Last night, I kept playing after I blogged.  After all, there was a fabulous Fireworks Show planned to start at 7PM.  I had work til 8, but I didn’t even get to play until a little later.  Sorry to anyone who tried to find my gate, my timing was a little off!  We’ll try that again in the future.  lol XD

MAAAAAYOR!

MAAAAAYOR!

Tortimer was REALLY excited about the start of the Fireworks Show.  He was giving out fireworks left and right.  Clearly he doesn’t find it to be a safety issue or a fire hazard in any way.

Lots of townies were out to enjoy the pretty skies.  Except for my best buds Apollo and Rowan, who were hiding inside the whole time.  How lame.  It’s so cute when the townies are watching the fireworks, they all look up and clap!  So happy!  I went up to the Old North Bridge, which has the best vantage point to see the sky.  It’s my favorite spot to watch the fireworks.

My boyfriend was watching the fireworks with me, and we were talking about how dumb the pale Mario nose looks.  I mean, now that Squirt is all TANNED and everything.  🙂  So I took Squirt back to the house to change back to Wario.  I think Wario looks better with a tan because the Bad Bro ‘Stache looks more like a sun-burnt nose… which is better than a pale nose.

Later on, after the fireworks had ended, Wario was walking around with his net out.  I’m not really sure why.  He was somewhere between Able’s and Town Hall (which are actually right next to each other, if you look at the Town Map) and suddenly that dreaded sound was heard.  The rattling of a SCORPION, ready to attack!  Of course, I panicked as usual.  Since I had my net out, I switched to something else to make the scorpion stop acting scary.  I tried to chase him towards a wall, but I lost sight of him.  Then Elise tried to talk to me.  I figured all was lost.

Then I spotted the scorpion again, just a few feet from where Elise and I were standing!  For the second time, I started chasing it with a shovel in hand.  The scorpion headed straight where I wanted him – the large alcove area (where Jambette’s house used to be back in November!).  This is the same type of area that Vella caught her creepy crawlies.  I knew that this was the best place to corner it.  So as I was chasing him, I used the directional pad to switch to my net.  I must have been choosing the wrong direction, because every tool I switched to was NOT a net.  The scorpion was scurrying towards the wall when I finally pulled the net out.  As soon as I did, I could see the scorpion turn around and I wasted no time in swooping the net down on him.

I finally caught the Scorpion!!!

It really was miraculous that I didn’t get stung.  I was practically shaking and totally panicking.  My boyfriend was laughing at me for continuously selecting the wrong tool in my mad chase.  Oh well!  The technique doesn’t matter, as long as you CATCH the stupid bug!  I was feeling very triumphant and took the critter straight to Blathers.  Proudly, I handed it over to him.

Now, if I could only catch that horrid black Tarantula, I’ll be all set!  lol

ATTACK OF THE BUGS!

On July 1st, I was looking for bugs everywhere.  I found a few, but had expected something more.

Today, it was a lot more like I had expected!  It seemed like there were beetles everywhere!

When I checked the gate this evening, I saw that Castletown was open!  I rushed through while I had the chance.  That town is so cool!  I like how everything is so different from a normal town.  I feel like I’m in bizarro world when I visit there!  Zelda had some friends over already and we were all exploring the ‘wonders’ of Castletown.  We decided to stop by the Roost for some refreshment.  Then Zelda heard about where ‘Pigeon Milk’ comes from and had a few angry words for Brewster!  lol

It’s fun to watch hackers run around their towns, even in places where you normally can’t reach!

I couldn’t stay in Castletown too long.  Sadly I had to let an Atlas beetle fly away since my pockets were full, so I decided that was my cue to head back to Shaolin.  Besides, I was expecting visitors at home!  My new friend Miao wanted to come by and copy some of my Japanese furniture, and Vella was going to visit as well.

Once Vella arrived, we started finding beetles everywhere!  It was around 11pm, so it was prime time to catch big bugs.  We found Elephant beetles, Atlas beetles, Hercules beetles, Scarab beetles… you get the picture.  It was awesome!  I couldn’t wait to donate them all to the Museum.  What was Blathers going to do when I brought him piles of large stinky beetles?

I agree, Blathers!

I agree, Blathers!

I wasn’t too surprised by his reaction.

Despite the gross-ness of the new donations, I had to go check out the Insect Exhibit and see everything in it’s new place.  My favorite to look at was the Hercules beetle battling the Golden Stag beetle on a tree stump!

Afterwards, I wanted to stop by Hang, which is Miao’s town.  I hadn’t visited there before!  I was excited to see it.  Vella and I took a grand tour of the different houses in her town.  My favorite room was the Rainbow Garden.  It was very cute!  I thought it looked a lot better than the garden my character Deb had attempted to make.  Check it out:

Miao had told me that she’d already caught 4 hammerhead sharks in Hang.  I decided to give it a shot.  After searching high and low, up and down the beach, I saw nothing but sea bass and smaller fish.  No fins at all!  I did manage to catch an Atlas beetle for the Museum, which was good.  While I didn’t find what I was looking for, I still felt like I had accomplished a lot!  There are so many bugs and fish to catch in July, I can’t expect to get them all in one day, right?  I went home and proudly donated the rest of my bounty to Blathers.  Then I walked home, just to check my own beaches for sharks before bed.

Near my house, I saw a Goliath beetle on a palm tree.  I netted it like a pro and crept along the beach, in case another bug was waiting for me.  And there was.

A SCORPION!

As you can imagine, I was feeling a little woozy after that.  Time to call it a night!  lol
