I know this is a few days after the fact, but honestly I was just so pissed off that I couldn’t even bring myself to write a blog until now.
As I’m sure you all know, last week was the E3 Expo, where Nintendo had a few presentations to show us sneak peeks at new hardware and games coming out soon. Last year, we had all expected some info regarding the new AC3DS game that is supposed to come out… sometime. All we got was a 3D trailer in the eShop, no mention of Animal Crossing was made during any presentations in 2011.
So for 2012, I was fully expecting a little showcase of this new game. Apparently I’m delusional. Not only did we not get any new trailer for AC3DS, Nintendo didn’t even mention the new game’s existence. In fact, the only reference made to Animal Crossing at all was in a mini-game that can be found in an upcoming Wii U game, Nintendo Land. Needless to say, I was not happy. Then there was the 3DS Software Showcase, where I was SURE they’d mention the new AC3DS game… but no. Instead, Disney got TWO segments – one for Kingdom Hearts, and one for Epic Mickey. I mean, really? Couldn’t they have squeezed those two Disney games into one segment, and shown us a bit about this game that we’ve been waiting on for over TWO YEARS?? WTF!!!
Did I mention that lots of people were disappointed that there was no mention of any new 3DS XL hardware?
*breathe*
OK so the E3 presentations weren’t THAT bad. Honestly, I had no interest in getting the Wii U until I saw the Nintendo presentation showing off how cool that Game Pad can be… and when I saw WiiFit U, I was totally sold. It sync’s with a pedometer! (Shh… I know I already have a Pokewalker. THAT’S NOT THE POINT! lol) I’m hoping my sisters and I can pool our funds together and get a Wii U, so that we don’t have to trade in our Wii consoles. I don’t think anyone wants to do that! 😛
The whole Miiverse idea is pretty kickass. I can’t wait to get this feature on the 3DS, and it’s gonna be so much cooler when the Miiverse is integrated into newer games. As long as the Miiverse functions the way Nintendo made it appear, it might be even cooler than the social functions on the Xbox. Only time will tell!
Now I can’t ignore the fact that, despite my being pissed about the lack of Animal Crossing info, Nintendo was not shy about spilling the beans for a different upcoming 3DS game – Paper Mario: Sticker Star! This is the newest Paper Mario installment, coming to the 3DS! You can download a 3D game trailer from the eShop. The game looks REALLY cool; the design style of the game is really well suited for the 3D environment. The idea of this game is that you collect stickers from the environment, and use these stickers as attacks when you enter a battle. That should be a fun twist on the classic RPG style that is used in the earlier titles of the Paper Mario franchise. Paper Mario: SS is to be released during the “holiday season.” Let’s hope that means October/November (shopping season) and not December. I don’t wanna wait that long!
In Pokémon news, my Japanese copy of White 2 is due to ship on June 25th. That’s only 2 weeks away! Question: Should I post photos/screenshots of the game as I go along, or should I avoid posting any spoilers whatsoever? I need feedback from you readers so I can do what the majority prefers! Let me know via comment, Twitter, or on my Facebook page and I’ll do my best to appease you guys! 🙂
I’ve been wanting to comment on this for a while but was on vacation last week and finally had a chance 🙂 I still have faith in Nintendo with the release of AC3DS! But yes, I too was pissed that there was no mention of it especially after the last 2 E3 conferences giving more detail each time. I was hoping that Nintendo was just concentratining on the Wii U announcement but then it was a no show at the 3DS showcase!?!?! I was crushed! We can only speculate that they may be taking their time with this game to make sure it’s perfect and maybe are waiting for a time when there will be no Mario games or Pokemon games being release that AC can be in the spotlight alone. Hopefully we will know something sooner rather than later. As for the reast of E3, we have plenty of games to keep us busy. I’m even more excited now for Paper Mario and Luigi’s Mansion 🙂 But yes, I agree, hopefully they will be released before December for the holiday shopping!
