Week of 4/21 – 4/27

Happy Birthday, Mayor Neko!

There was a big celebration in Wasabi on Sunday, 4/21!  It was Mayor Neko’s birthday, and the villagers were not about to let the day go by without a surprise party for the Mayor!  Wendy greeted Mayor Neko outside of her house and invited her to a party at Wendy’s house.  When Mayor Neko walked in, she was so happy to see that her favorite townies were all waiting to celebrate with her!  The party go-ers were Wendy, Teddy and of course, the King!  They started the party with a big birthday greeting and some dancing.

After a few minutes, they decided it was time to have some cake.  Wendy turned down the lights and the candles were lit.  Mayor Neko made a wish, took a deep breath and blew out the candles!  Party poppers were popped and confetti flew through the air!  It was very exciting.

After the candle ceremony, everyone at the party continued to dance the night away!  The party decorations were so cute, there was a party table and an adorable cake set up in the center of the room.  Most of Wendy’s normal furniture had been moved out of the way.  A big “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” sign was displayed on an easel too!  All of the party guests were wearing cute little party hats.  Mayor Neko wished she could have a party hat too!  That was when Wendy handed Mayor Neko a wrapped present.  Inside was something really cool – a pair of Birthday Cake sunglasses!

Mayor Neko wishes to thank her friends for throwing her a very special Birthday Party!  Happy Birthday Mayor Neko!

PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE

After a quick fundraising period, the newest Public Works Project has been unveiled!  The Wasabi Traffic Light was installed on 4/23 near the West Bridge, which is a very busy intersection of town.  Now it should be easier to navigate around the area!  Next up is the Classic Windmill project, which is a much pricier amenity for the town.  Wasabi News analysts predict that it might take more than a week for the Classic Windmill to raise the required funding.

MAYOR NEKO’S BIG CATCH

In the evening on 4/25, Mayor Neko went outside, only to find it was raining.  There wasn’t a lot going on in town, so she thought perhaps she’d do a bit of fishing.  Mayor Neko had heard fables of an elusive “living fossil” fish called the Coelacanth, which supposedly can only be caught in the ocean while it’s raining.  Wanting to seize the moment, she headed down to the beach.  After catching many unwanted Sea Bass, Mayor Neko noticed a big shadow in the water, and it was a little longer than the ones she’d been seeing.  With a deep breath, she cast her line and hoped for the best.  Much to her delight, a giant Coelacanth was at the end of the line!  Mayor Neko generously donated the giant Coelacanth to the Wasabi Museum, so it is now available for public viewing.

GRACIE GRACE RETURNS

All this rainy weather can’t stop everyone’s favorite fashionista!  Gracie Grace patiently waited at the Town Plaza in the rain on 4/27 to present Mayor Neko with the latest fashion challenge.

The requested clothing style was “Bunan” which translates to safe, or subtle.  Nothing too crazy for Gracie today!  Something more on the simpler side seemed to be in order.  Mayor Neko reached out to her awesome neighbor, Mayor Yumi of Kasen.  Together they raided their closets to see if any subtle clothing could be found.  Mayor Yumi brought over a pair of glasses, shoes and socks to try.  Mayor Neko realized that the striped shirt she was wearing was also on the subtle list!

Both Mayors were relieved to see that Gracie approved of the outfit, did her little happy dance and handed over a gift to Mayor Neko.  This time she had earned a Princess Sofa!  It’s quite plush and comfy.  Now Mayor Neko only needs one more positive fashion evaluation to earn the Department Store upgrade for the Nook Shop!

MUSEUM UPDATE

On that same rainy evening on 4/27, Mayor Neko was walking past Wendy.  She stopped by to say hello as she always does.  Wendy was very excited about something, and was asking Mayor Neko to give her over ฿4,000 in exchange for something.  The Mayor was in a good mood and agreed to pay, without even knowing what was in store.  Wendy handed over a furniture item and Mayor Neko quickly rushed home to see what it was.  Much to her surprise, Wendy had sold a painting to the Mayor!  Who knew that the citizens of Wasabi were such art collectors?  First it was King, then Anthony (albeit the one he sold the Mayor was fake) and now Wendy?!  Mayor Neko submitted the painting for review at the Wasabi Museum.  Blathers was all a-flutter when he saw the painting – it was real!

WASABI SAYS GOODBYE

In a stroke of terrible luck, the town of Wasabi has lost yet another resident.  Tiffany the rabbit has decided that it is time for her to move on to another town.  Mayor Neko has issued a statement:  “We are saddened to hear that our dear friend Tiffany is packing up today.  We wish her luck in all her future endeavors, and hope to see her around at the Strip Mall some time.”  Mayor Yumi was also present to say good bye.

NEW DLC AVAILABLE

Mayor Neko received some new DLC on 4/27 via post.  It was a Gold Clock, from the Gold Series.  For those who don’t know, you can create the Gold Series yourself by collecting Gold Ore and speaking to the Alpacas at the Recycling Shop.  While Mayor Neko of course is thankful for the generous gift from Nintendo, she admitted to the Wasabi News that she thought the DLC was “…pretty random.  But it’s worth quite a lot of money!”

  1. Nice! The birthday party looks soooo fun! The release date for NL will miss my birthday by 9 days 😦 Oh well, next year!

If you run through the red light will you get a ticket from Booker or Copper?

I love knowing the neighbors will sell you art in AC:NL! That was the only thing in AC:CF I could never complete! I still play occasionally just to see if I can get that horrible fox to sell me a real painting–they’ve been all fakes or duplicates–only 4 paintings to finish but I just can’t…
