Week of 3/10 – 3/16
Public Service Announcement:
Mayor Neko is a Horrible Barista
The Wasabi Cafe has been a hot spot for citizens, socialites, and town workers alike. Since the day it opened, business has been booming for the Cafe. Mayor Neko has been a daily patron at the Cafe, and Brewster wanted to reward the Mayor for her support by allowing her to work as a part-time barista. Unfortunately for the town, this has resulted in disastrous coffee concoctions. Due to the fact that Mayor Neko does not speak the town’s native Japanese language fluently, she is unable to understand each customer’s specific coffee orders. Only 1 customer out of the 8-10 that Mayor Neko has served has walked away happy with their beverage. Not for lack of trying, of course. Former Mayor Tortimer was quoted as saying, “[Mayor Neko] has unmatched enthusiasm… but the coffee she served was the most horrific cup o’ joe I’ve ever tasted.” The Wasabi News continues to support Mayor Neko’s efforts, but merely wants to warn all fans of the Wasabi Cafe to lower their expectations if they come in to buy coffee on a day that Mayor Neko is working.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
On 3/12, Mayor Neko was contacted by Mayor Yumi of Kasen in regards to a petition that needed signing. Mayor Neko immediately opened the gates to Wasabi so that Mayor Yumi could take care of her town’s official business. Mayor Yumi made quick work of her task, and got the signatures needed in record time. When asked what the petition was for, Mayor Yumi informed Mayor Neko that the Wasabi townies had signed a pledge to “Love Fiercely” (or something along those lines). The petition had been created by none other than the creepy Nelson of Kasen. The Wasabi News has warned all of the townies who signed up on this petition to please use caution. Shizue is currently checking federal watch lists to make sure Nelson hasn’t been involved in any… incidents prior to this petition, as he is known to make suggestive comments to young females in Kasen.
PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE
At the time of publication, the latest Public Works project to redesign the face of the Town Hall was still in the funding stages. Mayor Neko had informed the Wasabi News that at the time of print, only ฿40,000 was needed and that she expected the project to be completed early next week. As soon as more information is available, we will add the details to our next issue. Check back next week to see the finished Town Hall face-lift!
WASABI WELCOMES NEW RESIDENT
A new resident has recently started up a new life in Wasabi. This new, human resident is named ドラえもん, or Doraemon. He is named after the famous animated cat from Japan, and he too has an affinity for hooded sweatshirts with big pockets. Mayor Neko says that Doraemon is her distant cousin and he is looking for a fresh start. Doraemon is a little shy and hasn’t made a huge impact on Wasabi yet, but the Wasabi News expects big things from him in the near future!
MUSEUM UPDATE: NEW ARTWORK
One of Doraemon’s first contributions to the improvement of Wasabi was to inspect Crazy Redd’s artwork for the week. Not being any more of an expert on the subject of Art History than Mayor Neko, Doraemon did his best to pick the one piece of art that was not a forgery. The good news is that with two human residents, now both Mayor Neko and Doraemon can both purchase artwork, giving the Wasabi Museum a better chance at obtaining new legitimate paintings and statues. The even better news is that there is a new painting in the Wasabi Museum, donated by Mayor Neko.
NEW CAMPUS DLC AVAILABLE
On 3/14, another item from the Campus DLC series was delivered via a message from Nintendo. The latest decor item in the Campus series is the Campus Wallpaper. The wallpaper looks like lined, college-ruled notebook paper. Mayor Neko stated, “It’s a little bland to look at, but it certainly matches the theme of the Campus series. I’m working on setting up a DLC room in my house, but it’s not ready yet. Sorry for the mess in this photo!” Since it is hard to tell, the wallpaper in the accompanying photo is in fact the DLC college-ruled wallpaper.
PERFECT TOWN STATUS UPDATE
At the time of publication, the village of Wasabi has continued to maintain the Perfect Town Status. Mayor Neko has been checking daily with Shizue to ensure this; however, the Mayor believes she might have forgotten to check one day this week. This means that the tally of dates in a row to check for Perfect Town Status might have been interrupted, and it might take a little longer to receive the bonus prize than was initially stated. Doraemon is now checking the Perfect Town Status as well, in hopes that he too will receive the prize. Only time will tell if their hard work pays off! Some of the townies have noticed that Mayor Neko has been secretly collecting all the Jacob’s Ladder flowers that have been popping up, and she is reportedly hoarding them at the Mayor’s Estate, despite her vow to not work on improvements to her estate until she works on 3 Public Works for the town. King was quoted saying, “As long as she’s only taking flowers for her estate, it’s not such a big deal. After all, my house is surrounded by an insurmountable number of posies and hybrids, why shouldn’t the Mayor’s house be the same?” Another anonymous townie overheard King’s quote and muttered, “I heard the Mayor has a gold rose on her estate now, too. Figures that the royal villagers in town would defend the Mayor on a topic like this…”

Hehehehe I laughed at the watchlist comment. Nelson has been even more creepy lately. He was talking to Taiga about “hidden dances” or something along those lines and he told Yumi that his house was a “romantic” spot. Eeek! I do think he may be on some sex offender list somewhere.
Congrats on the new resident! I need to try and squeeze in one more resident before I go to Japan so I can maximize my DLC. 😉 I just don’t know where on earth to put him/her.
Woah! You have the game?
Scandal! I think your mayor might be corrupt. Better keep an eye on her…
